Lord of the Flies

I don't know what it is about LA fruit flies but I have never had so many co-exist with me. Yes, I've resorted to co-existing because I don't know how to get rid of them. I have no fruits or sweets sitting out and I've tried putting sugar and vinegar in a tall bottle to trap them - both only help temporarily. I need a permanent solution and am willing to try almost anything!

Go Blue!

I went to the Dodgers Stadium for the first time the other day. It was beautiful!!

Since Portland doesn't have a baseball team (we used to have the Portland Beavers - not sure what happened to them), I have no loyalties. In terms of baseball I guess I'll have to be Dodgers girl!

Magic Mountain

Guess who's now a proud thrill pass holder at Magic Mountain? Me!!

I love theme parks and it was a hard deciding which SoCal theme park to have an annual pass for. Ultimately Six Flags Magic Mountain got my vote because of the amount of thrill rides it has. Plus I love Gotham City =)

Laundromat

Today is my first time at a laundromat. At first I was dreading it, but now after the completion of my first trip I don't mind it. I had time to read, catch up with emails and chat with strangers (who happened to be a nurse anesthetist).

We'll see how I feel about laundromats in a couple months.

A Little TLC, A Little Waterfall

Last weekend a friend and I hiked the Escondido Trail in Malibu. We were promised a couple waterfalls during the hike and we definitely saw some water falling, but it was more so a leaky faucet. Being from a city that has Multnomah Falls, waterfalls will always be held to a higher standard. Aside from the leaky faucet, the 2-4 mile hike was full of fun climbs!

With all this waterfall talk I can't help but think of TLC's Waterfalls.  Take a listen...

Public Libraries

In Portland I took full advantage of the public library's collection of books, movies, and movies. I was ecstatic when I found out there was a public library close by and am proud to say my first outing as a LA resident was to the library. Since then I've frequented the library at least once a week indulging in their small collection of biographies, movies and music. Best thing about the library is that its free. Go visit your local library!

Last read: Bossypants by Tina Fey and Sojourner Truth - A Life, A Symbol by Neil Irvin Painter
Currently reading: Condi - The Condoleezza Rice Story by Antonia Felix
Book queue: Seven Habits of Highly Successful People by Steven R Covey and Outliers - The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell

Fresh Water

If you've never had drinking water from Portland you're missing out. It's incredibly fresh and clean tasting! I can't say the same of water from LA.

This water bottle refilling station was at the Portland International Airport and can be found all around the city. LA would benefit from having these stations around its city and fresher tasting drinking water too.

Bottom line of this post: drink lots of water! Its good for the body and soul.
